Hidin’ From Mr. Cooper

A renowned architect and acoustic engineer who belonged to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has been sentenced to eight years in prison for molesting two underage girls.

The three counts of child molestation were filed against Jeffrey Cooper, who designed the home studios for Hollywood’s biggest directors, including Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. Cooper faced trial in Van Nuys and will serve his time in a California state prison.

Cooper took advantage of the girls — one only six years old at the time — at the Calabasas Shul. He is one of the founders of that institution. The rabbi at the shul, Yakov Vann, learned of the molestation incidents, but did nothing to stop Cooper or bring him to justice. More from Jamie Dlux.
