An Illinois State University graduate student has been arrested and fired after he flipped over a Turning Point USA table on campus. Derek Lopez, 27, a native of El Paso, Texas, was caught on camera storming over to the table. He was initially arrested by local police, but later the FBI and U.S. Secret Service arrested him in a joint operation, saying he had threatened the life of President Donald Trump.
Students with Illinois State University’s TPUSA chapter had set up the display to advertise conservative comedian Alex Stein’s Oct. 20 event at the school in Normal, Illinois. “Well, you know, Jesus did it, so you know I gotta do it, right?” Lopez said as he attempted to rip the tablecloth, only to topple the table on its side.
