Pop-Up Pundits: Indie Or Not?

A former professor of media and culture, Darrell Hamamoto, joins the program to discuss the new alt media landscape. He calls the heavily supported personalities “Pop up Pundits”; essentially a mainstream takeover of the independent landscape funded by not-so-independent sources.

The point of this discussion is to learn to identify propaganda disguised as independent news and analysis. Here’s more from Sarah Westall at Business Game Changers.

Disinformation Team Exposed

The alt media has won a much larger follower as the mainstream media has been christened the “fake news” and proven to be wrong more often than not, and lying many times to boot. But how much trust can be placed upon the alt media? Are these figures truth tellers, or spinning as many lies and deceits as the mainstream media?

Here’s a look at two of the major figures within the alt media — Joe Rogan and Alex Jones. We will see how they connect with each other, and how they are tied to sources of “disinformation.” In our book, disinformation on its surface implies lying, same as the fake news, but just spinning a little wilder stories and perhaps adding a comic or absurdist spin.

Here’s more from Dustin Nemos, who says, “It’s the Muslims, It’s the globalists, it’s the illuminati, it’s aliens, it’s lizards. It’s everything except the synagogue of Satan. Now be a good goy and sin, party, take your pills and go 2 sleep.”
