The Year Of the Outsider

With both parties roiled in controversy and trapped in the drudgery of Washington politics, it’s no wonder American voters are gravitating toward “outsiders” at both ends of the spectrum. The Democrats are souring on Hillary Clinton, who can’t seem to handle the truth, and socialist Bernie Sanders is on the rise. On the Republican side of the aisle, Speaker of the House John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are drowning in their power on Capitol Hill, opening the doors for newcomers Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina. Is this a passing fad, or is the American electorate intent on redoing the political landscape? “I think the most fundamental thing is the incredible breach of trust that both parties are guilty of with the American people,” says political pundit Dick Morris. In this edition of Dick Morris Reports, Morris explains how the fresh voices are resonating with the public with their discourse on the betrayal of the leadership.

Framing the Constitution

Political pundit and commentator Dick Morris delves into the history of our Constitution and its framers with some assistance from The Quartet, a book by Joseph Ellis detailing an unexpected story of the 13 colonies. While the American Revolution of 1776 freed the colonies from British rule and gave us our independence, it was the second revolution of 1787 that helped merge 13 sovereign nations–the colonies–into one coherent United States. Morris explains further in this historical edition of Dick Morris Reports.

New Deal Wasn’t a Save All

The notion today is that President Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal worked, ending the Great Depression and rolling back unemployment. Political commentator Dick Morris says the New Deal had some merit, but some of its accolades were unfounded. Morris explains in this week’s history lesson on Dick Morris Reports.

Obama’s Legacy On the Ropes

President’s Obama’s proverbial legacy may be headed for dire straits. First, a federal appeals court struck down Obama’s executive amnesty action on immigration, then Iran’s Supreme Leader is about to blow up the proposed nuclear accord with the U.S. and now the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, is on the ropes. The U.S. Supreme Court will decide in the next few days whether Obamacare subsidies for health insurance are constitutional. Political commentator Dick Morris says a ruling against Obamacare should send the GOP into a wild celebration, not because so many Americans will lose their health insurance, but the action would all but obliterate a flawed piece of legislation. Listen in as he explains in this edition of Dick Morris Reports.

Courts to the Rescue

Thank God for the Judicial Branch of our government, which just might turn out to be the determining body in President Obama’s legacy. “There is increasing evidence that the courts are going to do their Constitutional duty and reassert the system of checks and balances and cancel a whole range of the unilateral executive action initiatives that President Obama has made,” says political pundit and commentator Dick Morris. That’s good news from Mr. Morris. In layman’s terms, it means Obama’s arrogance and outright lawlessness will be contained. Tune in to this edition of Dick Morris Reports as he explains.

Dump Minimum-Wage Hike

The countrywide push for a minimum-wage hike by the liberal left is a mirage. While a wage hike would increase paychecks of the poorest of the poor and those with entry-level employment, what the Democrats don’t tell America is how it will affect the rest of us. When small business and corporations are forced to dig into their pockets to shell out the extra doe, two additional things will happen: they will raise the price of their products and they will slash the 40-hour work week. Why? Because raising the minimum wage is unsustainable. “When the Democrats talk about raising the minimum wage, they’re just demagoguing,” says political pundit Dick Morris. “What they should do is reach into their pockets–the federal treasury–and increase the earned income tax credit to take account for the disparity between wage levels and affordability levels.” Morris closes out the week with some sage advice on the issue.

Rein in the NSA

Political commentator Dick Morris says we desperately need to rein in the National Security Agency or NSA. The House last week voted to tone down surveillance conducted by the NSA under the Patriot Act by limiting collection of phone data from Americans. The bill–the USA Freedom Act–is currently making its way through the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is proposing a two-month extension of the law. Bad move, says Morris, as he explains in this edition of Dick Morris Reports.

Tricky Dicky’s Other Faux Pas

Political pundit Dick Morris sojourns on memory lane to examine how President Nixon’s removal of the gold standard had major implications on Wall Street and our economy. “Abadoning it (gold standard) in 1971, which Nixon did, really led to the whole economic screw-up we’ve had since then and will have in the future,” Morris says. Check out his analysis in this edition of Dick Morris Reports.

Repeal of Obamacare Near

As America anxiously looks on, the King vs. Burwell case now pending before the U.S. Supreme Court could well be the death knell of the Affordable Care Act. “The case concerns the language in the Obamacare bill that says that subsidies are only available to those who get their health insurance through state exchanges,” says political pundit Dick Morris. A Supreme Court decision in favor of Obamacare foes will pave the way for Republicans in Congress to finally gut the bill. Morris explains.

Can GOP Move to the Center?

While the GOP is adamant that the party must elect a strong conservative to have any chance of winning the White House, political pundit Dick Morris suggests a move to the center of the political spectrum on some issues may be more beneficial. “The argument that’s being made about the 2016 election is that Republicans have a choice,” Morris says. “Stay over way to the right and generate turnout by enthusing the base, or compromise on crucial positions, move to the center and go after the swing voter. That’s a stupid false choice.” There’s a better way, Morris insists, such as addressing three key issues: immigration, attacking Wall Street and gun control. He explains in this edition of Dick Morris Reports.
