Nine days after his landslide victory, Trump’s cabinet picks are sending shockwaves through Washington’s power structure, especially his selection of Matt Gaetz as attorney general. After learning of the choice, Connecticut senior Sen. Richard Blumenthal warned that Gaetz’s confirmation will “prompt major resignations” among DOJ professionals.

Former Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton said this was akin to “Caligula naming his horse as consul.” The subsequent appointment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as director of Health and Human Services drew similar reactions. More from Franchi.
