Ancient Greek Flood Myths

Great flood tales appear in many different Greek and Roman documents, such as Hesiod’s The Theogony from the 8th century BC, Plato’s Timeaus from the 5th century BC, Aristotle’s Meteorology from 4th century BC, and many others. Many scholars believe that the various versions were all of a single ancient flood, similar to the Biblical story of Noah, that affected the Mediterranean region in ancient times. Atlantis In The Grand Canyon?

The Hopi Indians maintained that their ancestors did not arrive over a land bridge from Asia, nor do they believe that they arrived by boat, but instead their origin myths tell the story of how they climbed onto the surface from the underworld. The specific place of emergence of Hopi legend lies deep inside the Grand Canyon, an enchanted opening from the mysterious recesses of the earth, after a Great Deluge had destroyed the third world. Atlanteans were said to have built fantastic temples, displayed beautiful architecture, and created magnificent statues to the gods.
