It’s official! Paramount will leave California after the state’s antitrust battle with Paramount over its plans for a merger with Warner Brothers Discovery. The blue state essentially stymied a $111 billion deal, so we would frankly be shocked if Paramount stayed.
But citing TMZ as a source, Clownfish TV says California is screwed, and it’s their own damned fault. It’s estimated, if Paramount leaves, California will lose a total of 58,000 jobs and as much as $21 billion in annual revenue. Paramount itself has about 5,500 full-time jobs, while the balance of more than 50,000 jobs includes companies that do business for Paramount and could either leave or shut down if Paramount is gone.
Paramount has been in Hollywood for more than 100 years, so any departure would be an upheaval under any circumstance. It’s presumed Paramount would go to Texas, and quite possibly Austin, but nothing official has been stated yet as far as the location of its new headquarters. Here’s more from Clownfish TV.
The North American AAA video game studios are burning over $2 million a month just in salaries, and it’s not sustainable, claims a Saber Interactive exec.
He says studios need to move out of California and consider outsourcing to other countries if they want to stay competitive.
