Myths Our Schools Still Teach

John Stossel reports that Americans are taught that the Native people were stewards of the environment and movies like Pocahontas sell that message.

But he says Wilfred Reilly’s new book, Lies My Liberal Teacher Told Me, debunks this and other myths about America’s history. Government guides for teachers say, “Native Americans lived in harmony with nature. They did not kill anything they could not use.”

But Reilly points out the Natives took slaves, set big forest fires to clear land and often were just as cruel as white Europeans. Stossel digs into the myths our American schools still teach.

Outsourcing Cruelty

Unlimited power in the hands of limited people always leads to cruelty. That was one of the tenets taught by Alexandre Solzhenitsyn, the great Russian novelist and historian with a pro-freedom bent.

Here, Ramzpaul discusses Solzhenitsyn’s thoughts in the context of a cruel airline incident involving a dimwitted stewardess upset because a two-year-old girl is sitting on her mother’s lap and not wearing a face mask.

The stewardess works for Spirit Airlines. a low-cost airline but one that has been frequently accused of poor customer service. So we can’t say we’re shocked they hired this particular stewardess. The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

Orcas Slaughter Blue Whale

The sea remains a vicious mystery. Here, Magog of Morskar relates a cruel event off the coast of Australia, as a gang of 70 Orcas surround and badger a blue whale, bringing it down for the slaughter.
