He explains that the foundation is helping to fill the deficit of skilled workers in the country and also touches on the miseducation of America, medical freedom, scientific debate and more.

Calling Workers Non-Essential?

Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Mike Rowe (star of “Dirty Jobs” and “Somebody’s Gotta Do It,”) about risk assessment and the effects of the lockdowns. Mike discusses why he originally did Dirty Jobs as a tribute to essential workers that were often overlooked. Mike also discusses the damage done by the government putting us into categories of essential and non-essential workers. He criticizes politicians and others who devalue work and see it as just something we do for a paycheck. Mike thinks this demeaning of how people make a living overlooks the sense of purpose we get through our jobs.

Safety First: A Big Mistake

Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Mike Rowe (star of “Dirty Jobs” and “Somebody’s Gotta Do It,”) about risk assessment and the effects of the lockdowns. Mike discusses our safety-obsessed culture and the unintended consequences and dangers of putting safety first above all other things. Mike thinks a better idea would be to put safety third.

Mike gives examples of how extreme safety increases reckless behavior and decreases personal responsibility whether it’s seat belts, well designed intersections or helmet laws for motorcycles. Mike thinks a better idea to help public health and safety is to put more attention to risk management strategies while getting back to living our normal lives.

Mike also compares the reaction to the quarantine to the Kübler-Ross 5 stages of grief. This is part 1, so there will be a followup or two.

Dirty Jobs Dude Imparts Advice

Host Raj Nair gleans some illuminating words of wisdom from TV personality Mike Rowe (“Dirty Jobs”) on this episode of Liberty Treehouse on The Blaze Network. Among his many gems, Rowe says, speaking in the third person, “The world we’re in is full of experts, hosts and people who work very hard to pretend to know more than they really do, or appear more competent than they are. I did that for a long time and Mike realized that he was constantly competing with people than were better than him in almost every way. So what Mike did, he just stopped pretending to be better or smarter than he was.”

Compliance Can Be Costly

Says Rowe, who is best known as the longtime host of Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs,” “There are an army of angry acronyms out there and they each have a very specific agenda. None of them are there to make your life easier. They are there to make you more compliant.”

Get Dirty, America

Mike Rowe, host of the TV show Dirty Jobs, bemoans the existence of high unemployment at the same time there’s a serious and growing shortage of skilled laborers in America. Because of this “skills gap,” close to a quarter of a million blue-collar jobs are going unfilled.  “We’re screwed because we have a dysfunctional relationship with work,” Rowe says. “We’ve become disconnected, in a fundamental way, from the people who do those (skilled blue-collar) kinds of jobs.”  H/T Maggie’s Farm
