The Pentagon has officially charged Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl with desertion and misbehavior before the enemy, two of the most serious counts in the military. Unless all charges are dropped at the pending Article 32 hearing, the equivalent of a grand jury, Bergdahl is looking at spending the rest of his life in jail if found guilty at trial. After the dust settled in the U.S.-Taliban prisoner swap over the weekend, questions are now being raised over five terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay.
The terrorists who were swapped for U.S. Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, held captive for five years by the Taliban, are being called the “worst of the worst” by former CIA operative Gary Berntsen, whose team had a hand in taking the five into custody to begin with. Berntsten, who spoke with Fox & Friends Steve Doocy, says the men are probably plotting their next move.
“They are among the worst people on the planet,” Berntsen says. “They’ll be in Qatar for a year, being purportedly watched by the Qataris–they’ll be at the pool–and the moment that year is over, they will rejoin the leadership council of the Taliban and they will be rock stars within the jihadist movement internationally.”
