Green New Deal vs. Fiction
The Democrat Party is seemingly all in with U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal, a radical plan to eliminate fossil fuels to save the planet, but not without a stern warning from opponents. Former Popular Mechanics editor and author James Meigs says, “That’s a goal you could only imagine possible if you have no idea how the energy economy works or how energy is produced in this country. Renewable is especially hard, because it’s so inconsistent. You can’t just put in wind turbines and solar panels. You also have to build all this infrastructure to connect them with energy consumers, possibly very far away, and you always need a backup plan.” Consumer advocate John Stossel debates the issue with Meigs and Manhattan Institute senior fellow Mark Mills on Stossel TV.
