In Search Of Lost Treasure

The Barber dime is perhaps the rarest coin in American history, even though more than 4 million were made. The story goes that a shipment of the Barber dimes was en route from the Denver mint to Arizona (the video inadvertently says Phoenix to Colorado) when the wagon train tipped over and plunged into the impassable Black Canyon of Gunnison, in Colorado. Numerous searches for the treasure have been in vain, leaving only about a dozen dimes currently in existence. Danger Dolan gives us a glimpse of 14 other lost treasures that have never been found.

Off Limits to Most

From exclusive clubs to off-limits islands for tourists, Danger Dolan counts down 15 magical places you’d most certainly enjoy visiting, but have little chance of doing so. Among them is the ultra-exclusive Club 33 located in Disneyland. Membership to the club is $40,000, plus another $10,000 is annual dues. Amazingly, Club 33 has a 14-year waiting list. The M&Ms Blunder

Danger Dolan exposes the 15 worst business decisions ever because of greed, ignorance or just plain desperation. Among them was when in 1981 before the film was shot, ET director Steven Spielberg approached the Mars confectionary company to feature M&Ms as a small plot device in the film. Mars immediately declined, forcing producers of the film to go with their second choice–the Hershey Company and Reese’s Pieces. As you’ve guessed by now, Hershey profits soared in the coming months and Mars executives were left wiping egg off their faces. Worst Jobs Ever

This week, Danger Dolan takes a look at some of the 15 worst jobs ever. Among the worst of the worst is the Knocker-Up. Sorry, this doesn’t have anything to do with impregnating a woman, but is more of a human wake-up call, or tap on the window. The knocker-uppers were employed to tap on windows with a bamboo stick to awaken people. In other words, you were hiring someone to bother you. Check out the 14 other worst jobs ever.

Some Pretty Dumb Laws

After festival revelers made a complete mess of a 1996 festival with Silly String in Southington, Connecticut, town officials clamped down in a hurry. The partygoers sprayed Silly String on police, marching bands and cheerleaders, prompting the community to ban the sale of Silly String in shops.
