Dump Minimum-Wage Hike

The countrywide push for a minimum-wage hike by the liberal left is a mirage. While a wage hike would increase paychecks of the poorest of the poor and those with entry-level employment, what the Democrats don’t tell America is how it will affect the rest of us. When small business and corporations are forced to dig into their pockets to shell out the extra doe, two additional things will happen: they will raise the price of their products and they will slash the 40-hour work week. Why? Because raising the minimum wage is unsustainable. “When the Democrats talk about raising the minimum wage, they’re just demagoguing,” says political pundit Dick Morris. “What they should do is reach into their pockets–the federal treasury–and increase the earned income tax credit to take account for the disparity between wage levels and affordability levels.” Morris closes out the week with some sage advice on the issue.

The Internet Dilemma

Will the Internet be a victim of Net neutrality and massive government intervention, or should we continue to argue against regulation. FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai has jumped on the bandwagon against Internet neutrality and vehemently opposes regulation. “First and foremost, there is no problem with the Internet,” Pai says. “The Internet isn’t broken today as most of us who rely on it know. Secondly, decisions on how the Internet works are now going to be made by bureaucrats and politicians instead of by engineers and innovators. Rein in the NSA

Political commentator Dick Morris says we desperately need to rein in the National Security Agency or NSA. The House last week voted to tone down surveillance conducted by the NSA under the Patriot Act by limiting collection of phone data from Americans. The bill–the USA Freedom Act–is currently making its way through the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is proposing a two-month extension of the law. Bad move, says Morris, as he explains in this edition of Dick Morris Reports.
