We Have No War And No Peace

The war with Iran has settled into a dangerous pattern of strikes, retaliation and stalled negotiations. Iran appears to be using talks to buy time while continuing to threaten the Gulf, tankers and the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States has already damaged major parts of Iran’s military and political structure, but the conflict will continue unless Iran loses the ability to keep attacking its neighbors and disrupting global shipping. The path forward is to raise the cost on Iran’s military infrastructure, weaken its ability to strike and create the conditions for most American forces to come home.

With oil prices stabilizing, regional allies capable of helping keep the strait open and the midterms approaching, the question is whether Trump can end the conflict decisively and shift attention back to the economy and the political fights at home. Here’s more from Victor Davis Hanson.

Ilhan Omar: The Next Ayatollah

Iran’s congress shocks everyone by choosing Ilhan Omar as the next Supreme Leader.

As she celebrates, Donald Trump hears a message from Ali Khamenei’s ghost, claiming it’s destiny but a sudden twist turns the whole story upside down. Here’s more from Little Trump Cartoons.

Head Of The Snake Decapitated

It now looks as if more than 40 leading Iranian political and military leaders have been killed in Operation Epic Fury, chief among them, Ayatollah Ali Khameni. Iran had tried to deflect the news, and even swore up and down that none of its leaders had been executed.

“The people that make all the decisions, most of them are gone.” says President Donald Trump. Here’s more from the Liberal Hivemind.

Iranian Leadership Decimated

Retired Air Force Brigadier General Blaine Holt  says there’s “no way” the Iranian regime remains intact after the decimating bombing by the United Strates and Israel over the weekend. There are currently no plans to put American soldiers on the ground in Iran, but aerial and naval strikes will continue as part of Operation Epic Fury.

Hostilities reached a fever pitch over the weekend as Iran fired missiles against targets in nearly 10 nations across the Middle East, focusing on Israel, but also striking targets around Saudi Arabia, Jordan and other Middle Eastern nations. Meanwhile, the United States and Israel took out the top leadership of Iran, including the Ayatollah Ali Khameini.

So far, three American soldiers have died in the conflict, mostly during missile strikes against U.S. bases in the Middle East. The question that remains: How much blowback will we see? Will Iranian allies like Hezbollah or Yemen step up their attacks? Will there be an increase in terrorism incidents? Here’s more from Holt and other analysts on Newsmax.
