Expand GOP Playing Field

With new polls showing a tightening race — not just in battleground states, but also in traditionally Democratic leaning states — the GOP ought to expand the playing field, pundit Dick Morris says. He urges Mitt Romney to target new states, possibly including Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Republicans also can pick up a few more Senate seats if the party allocates its resources strategically leading up to Nov. 6.

Romney Up By 7 in Gallup Poll

Mitt Romney has moved ahead of President Obama by a 52 to 45 percent margin among likely voters in the latest Gallup Poll. Karl Rove says this is a significant threshold, as every candidate who has held this large a lead in mid-October has gone on to win the Presidency.

Meanwhile, signs point to the Obama campaign withdrawing resources from Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and possibly Colorado, ceding those states to Romney. The president is hoping to hold the line by fending off Romney in Ohio, Iowa, Nevada and New Hampshire. Read more at Hot Air.

UPDATE: In another indicator of the shifting battlefield, the Romney campaign is now pulling some, but not all of its, staffers out of North Carolina and reassigning them to more competitive states. The GOP campaign also is weighing whether to advertise in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Must Win Debate for Obama

The pressure is on President Obama to erase his dismal performance from two weeks ago. Meanwhile, if Mitt Romney wins this second debate tonight, Dick Morris says the GOP challenger can begin to open up a substantial lead going into the November 6 election.

Obama’s October Surprise

With his numbers declining in the polls, President Obama might pull a rabbit out of his hat, and attempt to reverse his fortunes through an October surprise. Dick Morris says keep your eyes open. One possible scenario he suggests: Some sort of negotiated truce with Iran temporarily placing its nuclear ambitions on the shelf in return for a lifting of the economic sanctions now imposed on Iran.

Democrats Rig the Vote

James O’Keefe, who conducted a series of stings exposing rampant malfeasance by ACORN, has now released another explosive series of undercover videos capturing employees of the Democratic National Committee and Organizing for America (the grassroots arm of President Obama’s re-election campaign) aiding and abetting voter fraud. The cases all involve facilitating cheaters who announce, clear as day, that they intend to vote twice in separate states. Instead of discouraging the illegal activity, the Democrats offer advice on how to avoid getting caught. In each instance, the staffers are complicit, even laughing about the situation.

Sad to say, this isn’t an isolated phenomenon. O’Keefe and his Project Veritas crew found Obama backers in multiple states willing to wink and condone the breaking of the law — all for the greater good of re-electing the president.  Here are the recorded encounters from Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota and Connecticut. It will be interesting to see how many more videos O’Keefe drops and whether the mainstream media begins to cover this flagrant abuse or keeps burying it. No wonder the Democrats are so opposed to voter ID reforms.

UPDATE: The Democratic National Committee today fired regional field director Stephanie Caballero for offering help in how to vote simultaneously in two states in James O’Keefe’s undercover video. Meanwhile, O’Keefe said Project Veritas will release material that is more “manifestly damning” in the weeks ahead. “We’re releasing one tape at at time and we challenge journalists to report the facts and not try to pretend like nothing was there, because I am not bluffing when I say that there is even more damning material up ahead,” he said.

In the Mail Fail

Conservative pundit Lee Doren dissects an Obama campaign flyer that attacks Mitt Romney’s and Paul Ryan’s positions on birth control. Point by point, Doren shows how the flyer misrepresents and exaggerates the true Romney/Ryan positions in a false effort to portray the Republicans as waging a war on women. H/T Small Dead Animals

Romney Clobbers Obama

Mitt Romney trounced President Obama in the first Presidential debate last night in Denver, Colo. A CNN instant poll showed two out of three Americans scored the debate as a decisive win for Romney. Even ABC’s George Stephanopoulos rated the debate a tie — a modest change of pace for this former Clinton sidekick, who, masquerading as a TV journalist, has declared Democrats the winners of eight out of the last nine Presidential debates. Super objective analysis there, George.
