Incredible Journey of Voyager 1

The Voyager 1 spacecraft, launched on September 5, 1977, is the farthest man-made object from Earth at 13.5 billion miles. Among the highlights in its 42-year journey are the mind-blowing close-up photos of Jupiter’s Great Red Spot, captured like never before, and magnificent shots of Saturn’s ringlets and two mysterious moons.

In 1990, at a distance of 4 billion miles, scientists pointed the Voyager cameras toward the sun and were rewarded with a “family portrait” of our solar system, capturing Planet Earth as a tiny blue speck in an array of light.  In 2012, Voyager 1, which was built to last only five years, crossed the threshold of interstellar space, still collecting data despite being bombarded daily by dangerous cosmic rays. Tune in as V101 Science features more nuggets from the spacecraft’s incredible journey.

Masked Singer Illuminated

What seems like just another mysterious TV game show — The Masked Singer — is actually chockful of Satanic references and symbols drawn from Saturn worship. Perhaps that’s what the Fox network thinks is hip, or perhaps they are trying to condition viewers to the coming of the anti-Christ. Here’s the analysis from the ScariestMovieEver.

Saturn and the Black Sun

The Roman statesman and philosopher Marcus Cicero called Saturn, Phainon, a word meaning “shining”. Saturn is where we get our name for Saturday, and Saturnalia was probably the most popular festival of the Roman calendar.

Saturnalia evolved into Christmas we celebrate today. Saturnalia was basically a week-long orgy — a lawless, drunk festival, filled with human sacrifice, murders, gambling and pagan rituals. The origins of mistletoe and cutting down trees stem from this celebration. It lasted every year during the winter solstice, December 17th through the 24th. Baphomet and Sophia

It has been said that the Baphomet was regarded as a god by various groups and organizations such as the Knights Templar. It is most famously portrayed as a goat headed deity, with a human body, harboring both male and female attributes, an androgen, representing perfect balance, a union of opposites, illustrating the old cryptic saying: “as above, so below”.

Saturn (Chronos) is a god in ancient Roman religion, regarded as a god of generation, dissolution, plenty, wealth, agriculture, periodic renewal, liberation, and of time. His reign was depicted as a Golden Age of plenty and peace. The Temple of Saturn housed the state treasury. In December, he was celebrated at the Saturnalia, a time of feasting, role reversals, free speech, gift-giving and revelry. Robert Sepehr is an author, producer and anthropologist.

Titan’s Missing Waves

Titan (or Saturn VI) is the largest moon of Saturn. It is the only natural satellite known to have a dense atmosphere and the only object, other than Earth, for which clear evidence of stable bodies of surface liquid has been found. However, these bodies of liquid are incredibly still, with no sign of wave activity. What is causing this incredible phenomenon?

Space Bound

A boy and his dog approaching the planet Saturn face imminent death due to oxygen deprivation, but rather than despair, they joyously embark on the journey ahead. Animator Kyle Moy collaborated with 3D artist Ellen Su to create this surprisingly uplifting short, especially considering the somber subject. Both are students at the School for Visual Arts in New York City. H/T Kuriositas
