Gaming Journalists Going Broke

Video game journalists will go broke this year. One of the biggest game news networks is reportedly changing its pay structure so journalists only get paid if an article hits a traffic benchmark.

And most articles won’t because of Google destroying the search algo with AI.

This is it, guys. The end of video game and pop culture journalism being a viable living for most people. Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Trump Assassin Stopped!

The deranged left mounted yet another attack on President Donald Trump. This time, a leftwing California teacher arrived at the White House Correspondent’s Association (WHCA) press dinner Saturday night at the Hilton Inn in Washington D.C., aiming to take out the president.

The suspect was brought down by the U.S. Secret Service agents, operating one of the way stations outside the Hilton Inn banquet hall.

Here, Robert Gouveia gives us a look at the upcoming arraignment, likely led by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, of the suspected assassin Cole Tomas Allen, a teacher from Torrance, California. Needless to say, he manufactured his own manifesto, full of anti-Christian rhetoric and trying to justify his sordid crime. He called himself a “Friendly Federal Assassin” in the manifesto, and wrote, “I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes,” apparently referring to the president.

What else do we know about Allen? He earned a degree in mechanical engineering in 2017 from the California Institute of Technology.  He designed his own atomic shooting game, Bohrdom, on the Steam e-game platform. He won a Teacher of the Month Award in December 2024. His younger sister, Avriana Allen, works as a data journalist at the Pew Research Center, a so-called “think tank” in Washington D.C.

Also, it’s alleged one of the journalists attending the WHCA smuggled in the weapons used by Allen in his attack. Here’s Gouveia’s full report on Watching The Watchers.

Here’s the next video game for Asmongold to give a whirl.

Will They Take The Gay Away?!?

Elizabeth Warren and dozens of other Democrats are seemingly trying to stop the sale of the vintage video game company Electronic Arts to an outfit in Saudi Arabia, citing anti-competitive practices or something.

Really this is about protecting the unions and they’re mad Jared Kushner is involved. Oh, and they’re afraid the Saudis will take the gay away from The Sims. Probably.  Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Windows: Nothing But Trash!

The owner of GOG, one of the major outlets for online video games,  has flat out said what we all already knew: Windows pretty much sucks.

Does that mean GOG will have more Linux support in the future? I’d say it’s pretty likely….Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Microsoft Isn’t Woke Enough?

Microsoft has become the gaming media’s punching bag ever since they dropped DEI, embraced AI, the CEO sucked up to Trump and something something Israel.

Remember when the games media would go out of their way to defend poor Xbox and Starfield from the mean ol’ right wing chuds? Yeah, game over man. Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Journalists Rage Against AI

Video game journalists have a new boogeyman — generative AI being used in game development. The problem?

Pretty much EVERY studio is using it to speed up production. So good luck with boycotting pretty much everyone.

On the upside, maybe they’ll lay off cancelling people for political difference? Maybe? Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Sony Will Censor Your Games!?!

Sony filed a patent for technology that could allow them to censor video games in real-time with AI.

Of course, it’s “for the kids.” But if this technology is implemented, every piece of media could theoretically be altered in real time on a whim.

What could possibly go wrong? Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Is Twitch Going Belly-Up?

Twitch introduced — and almost immediately walked back — a ridiculous $5,000 membership tier that allows you to gift memberships to 1,000 people.

Because of course nobody would use that to troll a streamer and subsequently initiate a chargeback a few months later. Absolutely not. Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Kirk Killer’s Discord Logs

Here’s a look inside the Discord logs where Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk, and his roommate/lover Lance Twiggs shared messages with their friends, mostly video game players. There are messages pulled from a variety of channels. The expressive Twiggs went by the handles “lanclotl” and “fluxalotl,” while Robinson called himself “zealous_monkey” and “bedbuge inspector.” On the gaming platform Steam, Robinson even played for awhile using the handle “Donald Trump.”

The messages point to periods of time involving some degree of stability, followed by other periods that could be manic, delusional, drug-ravaged and schizophrenic. Robinson was typically more reserved and stoic, while Twiggs was more outgoing, flamboyant and also quite bizarre.

Twiggs sometimes stayed up for days at a time, engaging in conversations with ChatGPT using Greek, Latin and other archaic symbols and languages. He was prone to build “nests,” heaped-up piles of trash, that no one could touch without him going into a rage. In his frenetic and hurriedly scribbled charts and drawings, words are broken into syllables, and syllables into strange pastiches of grammar and geometry.  His drug use was dangerous and prolific — not just weed, but also LSD, DMT and mushrooms.

Here’s a look into their private world via their Discord and chat messages. Friends and former gaming colleagues shared the messages with Turkey Tom.
