Comics Is Just Sad

Why don’t we talk about comics on this channel much anymore?

It’s sad and depressing, and there’s really not much going on.

So we’ll talk about DSTLRY imploding, Diamond imploding and IDW imploding — all comic book publishing companies announcing bankruptcies or other restructurings. Because a good time isn’t being had by all. Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Games, Comics Going Down?

Kickstarter employees went on strike this week because they want a 4-day, 32-hour work week and something like $80,000 a year.

Their bosses said no. Or something.

So let’s talk about this, and whether or not it’s justified given how important Kickstarter is to comics and games. This is especially so now that the Diamond comic distribution network went bankrupt. Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

If You Live By The Sword

People who were publicly celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk are in for a RUDE awakening — it’s not longer 2018.

There are swift firings taking place all over the country right now, and many of them are in gaming, comics and animation.

These people were cool with “cancel culture” for less. They made the rules, right? Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

Former Comic Book Chief Jailed

The former president of IDW Entertainment is going to prison for embezzlement and fraud, allegedly diverting funds from streaming projects to his own bank account and the account of a blackmailer. Sentenced to a federal prison term was David Ozer, charged with defrauding investors in television productions at Strong Studios. Given everything else that’s been going on with IDW, that tracks.

He previously headed IDW Entertainment, a division of Idea and Design Works, LLC. It’s the fifth largest publisher of comic books in the United States, behind the titans like Marvel and DC. Here’s more from Clownfish TV.

John Romita Sr.: Comic Legend

The senior Romita, Marvel’s art director, worked tirelessly on the early issues of Spider-Man but he also brought to life such creations as Wolverine and the Black Widow.

Here, RazorFist offers a tribute to the man, and his many inspired creations, that transformed Stan Lee’s Marvel Comics into an industry powerhouse.  RazorFist calls him “a true comic legend.”
