Singapore Opens Marine Park

The world’s largest oceanarium has opened at a resort in Singapore. The 20-acre Marine Life Park on Singapore’s Sentosa Island houses more than 100,000 animals representing over 800 different species. The centerpiece is an Open Ocean habitat that can be observed through the world’s largest viewing panel — 118 feet wide and 27 feet tall.

Germany’s Erotic Zoos Face Ban

The German Parliament is moving to reinstate laws against sex with animals after a pronounced rise in the number of bestiality cases. The Germans struck down bestiality as a criminal offense in 1969, but now a reversal appears imminent, amid signs of increasing zoophilia. Some farmers are reportedly pimping out their sheep and pigs for sex acts. There are even erotic zoos that people can visit to abuse animals including goats and llamas.

Michael Kiok, the chairman of a German zoophile group called ZETA, defended keeping bestiality legal. “Mere concepts of morality have no business being law,” Kiok said.

What a strange line of reasoning. If laws governing human behavior are completely divorced from morality, then humans have been reduced to barnyard animals. Who believes this is what the founders of Western Civilization, even those advocating libertarian principles, had in mind?

The farmer believes this has made his pigs fitter, happier and tastier. Matt Blake reports for ITN News.

Panda’s Roots in Spain

The giant panda might not have originated in China, after all. Paleontologists have found fossil teeth near the city of Zaragoza, Spain, for an 11 million-year-old species believed to be the oldest known relative of the panda. The ancient species, dubbed Agriarctos beatrix, lived in a humid forest region and weighed only 130 pounds, making it more petite than the smallest living bear species, the sun bear. To escape predators, including bear dogs and giant, sabre-toothed cats, this prehistoric bear most likely spent a lot of time aloft in trees. H/T Next Media Animation
