Weird Science

President Obama is demanding more money for green energy initiatives in his second term. As if Solyndra wasn’t a big enough bust the first time around. Meanwhile, one of the anchors at CNN asks aloud whether global warming contributed to an asteroid nearly swiping the planet Earth. Ben Crystal offers all the Weird Science news on this edition of The Great Eight from Personal Liberty Digest.

Build the Keystone Pipeline

Reason.TV’s Nick Gillespie identifies three arguments why President Obama ought to approve the 1,700-mile Keystone XL pipeline, bringing oil from Alberta, Canada, to refineries along the Gulf of Mexico. The reasons: 1. The oil isn’t going to stay buried. 2. The pipeline isn’t a disaster waiting to happen. 3. It will create jobs and help improve the economy.

Fracking Is the Answer

Don’t fall for the green/Hollywood propaganda, as pedaled in The Promised Land, the Matt Damon environmental screed shamelessly financed by Middle Eastern oil interests. As pundit Dick Morris explains, fracking is a perfectly sound and viable solution to the America’s energy needs.

Facts About Fracking

Hank Green from the SciShow explains how fracking is done. The process has greatly expanded our domestic pool of oil and natural gas. At the same time, Green says, it carries certain environmental risks, so must be done carefully to avoid contaminating water supplies or increasing the probability of earthquakes.

China, India at Odds Over Oil

Tensions are mounting between China and India over rich oil and natural gas deposits below the South China Sea. China stakes claim to most of the energy resources, but India has acquired rights to some territories from Vietnam, and vows to defend its holdings and economic interests. RT, the Russian global TV network, reports.

Energy Independence Near

Canada and the United States are on a path to achieve energy independence, pundit Charles Krauthammer tells Ezra Levant of Canada’s Sun News. Canada will do so first, owing to the Obama Administration jumping into bed with radical environmentalists who have impeded the pace of energy development in the United States. As a result, Obama has gutted the coal industry and not allowed natural gas fracking to proceed as quickly as it could.

But Krauthammer predicts Obama will begin to modify his failed energy policies during his second term to help turnaround the anemic economy. The pundit even believes a reversal is imminent on the Keystone Pipeline, and advises Canadians to wait a few months before committing to send vast oil resources to China. H/T Blazing Cat Fur

Everybody to Get Benefits

This just in…President Obama may push immigration reform as a thank-you to Latino voters. “In fact, Obama’s thinking of giving legal immigrants the same benefits illegal immigrants already receive,” says Jodi Miller. She also waxes eloquently about condoms in porn, gas prices and Spike Lee in this edition of NewsBusted.

Move Over, Saudi Arabia

The United States will overtake Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world’s top oil producer as soon as the year 2017. That’s the latest forecast of the International Energy Agency, standing in sharp contrast to previous IEA reports that had projected Saudi Arabia remaining the leading oil producer through the year 2035.  Maria Van Der Hoeven, executive director of the IEA, discussed the new findings Monday in London with Reuters.

Hey, Look on the Bright Side

We would have preferred if voters had elected the straight-shooting and hard-working Mitt Romney as our Commander in Chief yesterday to put Americans back to work and begin to heal the nation’s divisions. But on the flip side, the re-election of President Obama guarantees that Call Me Stormy will remain on the case over the next four years — keeping you entertained, amused and outraged, while serving as a necessary counterbalance to the disgraced and deceitful Lamestream Media as well as the armies of entrenched plutocrats and bureaucrats who place their own crony interests ahead of the country’s long-term well-being.

We lost this skirmish, but by the slimmest of margins — taking more House seats and far more governorships than the Leftist Democrats. We must congratulate them on their victories in the Presidential race and in the Senate, but at the same time redouble our efforts to ensure the next skirmish ends with different results.

One silver lining: The Botox San Francisco freakazoid Nancy Pelosi will most likely be deposed from her post as leader of the House Democrats. And we doubt Obama will be squandering billions of dollars on bogus green energy initiatives fronted by his friends and supporters, or demonizing Appalachia and coal miners quite so stridently. Those are perhaps small victories, but they are victories nevertheless, and we should cherish them, while girding up for the larger battles that loom ahead.

The Green Energy Boondoggle

People know about the failure of Solyndra, but many aren’t aware: Solyndra was but the tip of the icberg. The Obama Administration underwrote a large assortment of green energy companies. Nearly all of these firms boasted close ties to leading Democratic donors, fund-raisers and politicians, and most have gone belly-up, with millions upon millions of taxpayer dollars lost in the process.
