Europe’s Shameful Sharia

One lone protester stands up against the election of two Islamists to a town council in Belgium. On the one hand, the Islamists won by a fair, democratic vote. But on the other hand, they have endorsed the implementation of Sharia laws over and above Belgian civil laws and the European Convention on Human Rights. In other words, they are advocating a global caliphate under which the rights of women and gays would be abrogated, as well as anyone not adhering to Islam.

A tip of the hat to PJ commentator Roger L. Simon, who posted this video and noted the profound silence and apathy that greets this one protester. “Political correctness — leavened, to be sure, with a modicum of cowardice — overwhelmed their good sense and allowed the decent and courageous man to leave by himself,” Simon wrote. “If you ever wondered how Hitler happened, you have part of your answer on this video.”

French Reject Sharia

French citizens march to support their values and culture, and to protest against radical Islamists migrating into the country, establishing separatist communities following Sharia law. The French media blacked out coverage of the march, which occurred this past Monday in Paris.

Author Renaud Camus, who helped to organize the event, has been outspoken in his criticism of the media for refusing to address the shortcomings of multiculturalism in France. Asked why the media angers him, Camus (no relation to Albert) replied, “Because they impose (almost) unanimously a system of interpreting the world that is a formidable machine for not seeing, not saying, not understanding…. Supported by threats, it serves to dissimulate what is happening: that is to say the changing of people, the Great Replacement, the reverse colonization.” H/T The Astute Bloggers

Moe Moe Moe Moe Moan-nuh!

A ballad to the tune of The Kinks’ “Lola,” satirizing MSNBC commentator Mona Eltahawy’s decision to deface anti-jihadist ad posters placed in the New York subway system by Pamela Geller. Eltahawy apparently objected to the characterization of jihadists as “savages” so she embraced a curious position for a reputed journalist, that of attempting to deny the free speech rights of a political opponent. Then again, she’s affiliated with MSNBC, so her credentials as a journalist are as suspect as any of that network’s moonbat crew. Sample lyrics in this parody:

“Well I left mosque just a week before
And I’d never ever waged a jihad before
But Mona smiled and took me by the hand
And said dear boy I’m gonna make you Sharia man.”

Topless at the Louvre

Femen activists occupied the Louvre in Paris today, using the Venus de Milo as the backdrop for their topless protest against a controversial trial in Tunisia. Under the topsy-turvy perversion of justice associated with Sharia law, a Tunisian woman named Mariam, who was raped by policemen, now faces charges of being “immoral.”

The Femen activists view the trial as a travesty and called upon women worldwide to resist the spread of Sharia, arguing it permits rape victims to be treated like criminals. The protesters chanted “We have hands to stop rape,” referencing the armless Venus de Milo, an ancient Greek sculpture on permanent display at the Louvre Museum.

They Want to Kill Us

Blind Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman

Dwight Schultz, one of Hollywood’s few outspoken conservatives, reveals the true catalyst behind the current tidal wave of Islamic unrest — a campaign by Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi trying to force the United States to release mass murderer Omar Abdel Rahman. Often referred to as “The Blind Sheik,” Rahman served as the emir, or leader, of Gama ‘at al-Islam, the radical Egyptian organization that assassinated President Anwar Sadat and staged a brutal 1997 massacre at Luxor, Egypt, that left 62 tourists and police officers dead. Rahman is serving a life sentence in US custody for his role in forming a terrorist cell in New York City that perpetrated the first bombing of the World Trade Center on Feb. 26, 1993, and murdered Jewish Defense League founder Meir Kahane.

Hani Nour Eldin

Why would President Morsi think the United States might grant clemency to a convicted assassin and terrorist? Because President Obama recently issued a visa to Hani Nour Eldin, a member of The Blind Sheik’s fanatical Islamic Group, waiving federal laws forbidding his travel to the United States, so Eldin could come to Washington, DC, to petition for Rahman’s release.

Thus, Obama is now reaping what he sowed, unleashing a demon genie from a bottle because of a failed diplomatic overture involving an attempt to appease murderers and thugs. Take it from Dwight Schultz, who portrayed Capt. “Howling Mad” Murdock on The A-Team and later Reginald Barclay on Star Trek: The Next Generation. H/T Front Page Magazine

UPDATE: Glenn Beck is reporting negotiations between the US State Department and the Egyptian government to transfer custody of The Blind Sheik to Egypt on humanitarian and health grounds. One source says the move is part of an Obama apology for the Mohammed movie.

al-Qaeda Finds Refuge in Mali

al-Qaeda has a new refuge… the deserts of Northern Mali. This report captures the food crisis and exodus of half a million people, caused by the Islamist enactment of harsh Sharia Laws in the north of the country. There, al-Qaeda has driven out the struggling national army, seized their weapons and is now fly the al-Qaeda flag. “We’re frightened because there’s no government we can trust to protect us from the armed groups,” says Maulud Ibrahim, a Tuareg refugee.

“When we’ve conquered France, we’ll come to the USA, we’ll come to London and conquer the whole world,” says a military commander from the local al-Qaeda ally, Defenders of the Faith. For Tiebile Drame, the former Foreign Minister, the situation is getting serious. “The rest of the world should not stay just to look at the situation, we should be helped unless they would like to see another Somalia or another Afghanistan.” H/T Journeyman.TV

Saudi City For Women

Saudi Arabia has announced plans to build a city whose workforce will be composed exclusively of women. The announcement has prompted debate, with some seeing it as a modest, half-way measure toward granting more gender equality while others maintain that it’s a subterfuge and doesn’t alter the backward nature of Saudi Arabia’s Sharia Laws.

Those laws are strict — Saudi Arabia remains the only country in the world where women aren’t allowed to drive.  But some new freedoms are being permitted. Women can now attend college, work in certain professions and, beginning in 2015, will be permitted to vote and run for office in local elections. The establishment of the women’s-only enclave outside Al Hofuf, west of Bahrain, will give women new opportunities in the pharmaceutical and textile industries.

But Ezra Levant, commentator for Sun News in Canada, says the establishment of a women’s-only city in Saudia Arabia constitutes “gender apartheid,” eerily similar to the practices of segregation and discrimination once applied to race in South Africa. He says the proposal amounts to “a gulag for uppity women,” rather than truly advancing equality between the sexes. He discusses the issue with Pamela Geller, whose US-based blog, Atlas Shrugs, has extensively covered human rights abuses carried out under the guise of Sharia Laws. H/T iOwnTheWorld

Tunisia: After the Revolution

Tunisia, birthplace of the Arab Spring, still finds itself teetering and torn apart by violence one year after the revolution. In the wake of the coup that deposed the government of Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, unemployment has climbed 5 percent to reach a staggering 18 percent, and the nation’s GDP, or gross domestic product, has shrunk nearly 2 percent. Foreign investors largely remain on the sidelines, skittish about lending a hand, or any money, to the fragile state.

Tunisia is due south of Italy, along the Mediterranean Sea, sandwiched between Algeria and Libya.

Meanwhile, the new coalition government led by the Ennahda ruling party has faced growing dissension, coming from both the left and right flanks. The Islamist religious right has chafed at the new government’s refusal to incorporate Sharia Laws as the foundation for Tunisia’s new constitution and also has widely rioted against the sales of alcohol.

By the same token, students and urban liberals have been disappointed because the freer society they envisioned has not materialized. Last fall, the Nessma TV station broadcast Persepolis, nominated for an Academy Award for best animated feature in 2007. After a case brought against Nessma by 144 attorneys, the government fined the station the equivalent of $1,500 on the grounds that the picture blasphemes religion.

Independent journalist Bill Code, formerly with SBS World News Australia, has spent considerable time in Tunisia, observing the changes, the conflicts and the chaos on the ground. Ukraine’s Topless Feminists

Femen (Фемен), the women’s protest movement from the Ukraine, appears to be turning up everywhere these days — boldly flashing their boobs across much of Europe to advance their political beliefs. What are their beliefs? Why have they adopted the tactics they use? Where will it all lead?

Femen, founded in 2008, originally came into existence to battle against the sex trade in the Ukraine and to stop the exportation of Ukraine women to serve as prostitutes in Germany, the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe. Not only is sex tourism flourishing across the Ukraine, but it’s estimated that as many as one-fourth of Europe’s prostitutes were recruited from the former Soviet republic.

Members of the activist group Femen protest what they see as the manipulation of the democratic system in Kiev, Ukraine, on Feb. 7, 2010.

It might seem strange for a protest group opposed to the sex trade to turn around and use sex as its chief weapon. Why has Femen gone this route? The answer is simple. The media attention brought by this shock tactic magnifies the group’s impact far beyond its numbers. Only about 300 activists belong to Femen, but the group has its sights set on becoming the largest feminist organization in Europe, and eventually the Americas.

“The European feminists differ from us,” says Alexandra Shevchenko, one of Femen’s founders. “They don’t use their bodies and sexuality to get to the goals that are important to women. We use them and hope that in 20 years, people will talk about feminists as beautiful naked women, not as butch, bald and tattooed women.”

Much like Pussy Riot, Femen’s warriors have faced charges of hooliganism at home and come under fire for desecrating symbols associated with the state and church. But they have branched out internationally as well, recently staging a topless protest in London against Olympic participation by Islamic nations that have embraced Sharia Laws that discriminate against women.

To better grasp what all the commotion is about, here’s a 30-minute Finnish TV documentary on Femen, with English subtitles (hit the CC button to see the English captioning). The two Shevchenkos identified in the film are both Femen founders, but they are not sisters, hailing originally from different towns. (NSFW)

Topless to Topple Sharia

Femen protesters from the Ukraine went topless Thursday outside London’s City Hall, demonstrating against “bloody Islamist regimes” taking part in the Olympic games. “They are the fascists of our time, they treat women like third-class citizens,” said Reza Moradi, one of the protesters.  In fake blood, the women wrote slogans across their chests, including “No Sharia,” “Olympic Shame” and “Speed Raping.”  Femen’s tactics might mirror those of PETA, but their targets are much more deserving of the boob treatment. Here’s video of the protest from Telegraph TV, borderline NSFW. H/T American Power
