Welfare Not The Answer
Before government got involved, Americans were lifting themselves out of poverty. When welfare began, progress continued for about seven years, but then it stopped, creating a state of dependence for the poor.
Yaron Brook, chairman of the board at the Ayn Rand Institute, tells investigative reporter John Stossel that the welfare program does more harm than good, basically teaching those in need that they don’t have to work. The solution might be in charities, which work a lot better to improve the lives of many impoverished Americans by building their self-esteem and keeping them off the public dole.
