Who Else Is Listening?

P.J. Crowley appeared on MSNBC on Thursday where he tore into his former employer, President Barack Obama and his administration, over the heavy-handed way in which the Department of Justice has sought to intrude on the private affairs of journalists. The scandals surrounding the DOJ’s subpoenaing of communications records from Associated Press and Fox News Channel reporters has, in his opinion, partially discredited American calls for freedom of the press abroad.

GITMO Just An al-Qaeda Excuse

Former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton, Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, discusses the possible closing of Gitmo and the President’s counterterrorism strategies. Closing the prison won’t appease al-Qaeda, Bolton says, but simply turn loose a bunch of terrorists to resume their attacks on the United States and the rest of the Western world.

Meanwhile, the radical Muslim cleric who taught and influenced the terrorists — former Al-Muhajiroun leader Anjem Choudary — refused to accept any personal responsibility for the bizarre and brutal murder, seeking instead to blame the British government because it has sent troops to fight in Afghanistan. The question remains: Why isn’t Choudary rotting in a jail cell? He’s nothing more than a common thug and criminal masquerading as a cleric.

Gopher Broke

Jeff Fowler co-wrote and directed this animated comedy about a hapless rodent who hatches a clever scam to procure some fresh produce, but other, more fleet-of-foot animals, including squirrels, crows and chickens, keep making off with his ill-gotten booty. Fowler and co-writer Tim Miller garnered an Oscar nomination with the 2004 short.
