Paul Ryan Should Step Down

Lou Dobbs has called for House Speaker Paul Ryan to step down. We concur. We have no problem with Ryan remaining in the House and serving his district in Wisconsin. But he needs to resign as House Speaker.

Republicans now have control of not only the presidency, but also both chambers of Congress and the vast majority of state legislatures. We want our leaders working together and taking bold steps to serve the public. The years of erratic, do-nothing leaders must come to an end. Paul Ryan is probably an A-OK Congressman, but he will never be mistaken for an imaginative or energetic or innovative House Speaker, a la Newt Gingrich.

Newt Rips GOP Establishment

It appears the GOP establishment is rallying against presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Among those refusing to jump on The Donald’s bandwagon were Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, former GOP nominee Mitt Romney and presidents George H.W. Bush and his son George W. Bush.

The opposition doesn’t sit well with former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, especially the dissension of Ryan. “The pseudo-intellectual right-wingers, who have made a living in Washington, D.C. being brilliant while they alienated the entire American people, are showing you by their hysteria, the degree to which they are being repudiated,” Gingrich says. “The country has looked at their lack of achievement, their lack of effectiveness and just said no.” He elaborates on Ryan’s “big mistake” on “The Sean Hannity Show” on Fox News.

Obama’s Lackeys Upset

Ohio Rally Draws 30,000

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan attracted a crowd of 30,000 today in West Chester, Ohio — the largest rally for either party this election cycle. The boisterous audience heard warmup pitches from an impressive roster of GOP dignitaries, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Sens. Marco Rubio, John McCain and Kelly Ayotte, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. Kid Rock also entertained the faithful.

The buzz generated will carry over through Tuesday, pushing Ohio into the Romney-Ryan column. Romney sounded positively Reaganesque, delivering an uplifting and optimistic oratory, one of his best for this campaign. He’s on a roll, and you won’t have too long to wait to see the results.

West Chester is in the heart of Butler County, just north of Cincinnati. As of today, GOP requests for absentee ballots in Butler County are outpacing Democratic requests by a margin of 4 to 1. In neighboring Warren County, the margin is even larger, approaching 5 to 1.

PS: The Cincinnati Enquirer placed the crowd size at 30,000, citing police and fire department officials. Steve Peoples of the Associated Press low-balled the estimate, saying only 18,000 were on hand. Peoples is the same reporter caught in a similar lie this summer when Paul Ryan revisited his alma mater, Miami University in Ohio. Peoples claimed “hundreds of supporters” turned out to see Ryan, but the Enquirer, Fox 19 of Cincinnati and WHIO-TV out of Dayton all placed the turnout for the August event between 4,000 and 5,500. Peoples might have legitimate press credentials, but he obviously can’t count. Remedial training with Big Bird for him.

Ahead of the speeches by the Republican candidates, musicians Kid Rock and Rodney Atkins warmed up the audience, as well as Susana Martinez, governor of neighboring New Mexico.
