Corporate Welfare

Politicians in Memphis gave Swedish furniture giant IKEA tax breaks to come to the city and create jobs. IKEA created fewer jobs than promised and drove existing small furniture stores–who still had to pay taxes–into the ground.

“Where’s our tax break?” business owner Louis Caddell, of King’s Furniture, asked. Then he went out of business. He couldn’t compete with a giant like IKEA that got special breaks. Does this sound familiar in other parts of the country? It seems government handouts repeatedly end up in the pockets of giant corporations, a sort of corporate socialism, says John Stossell.

Surprisingly, the policy has caught the attention of uber-liberal PBS, who is airing Johan Norberg’s new documentary, Corporate Welfare: Where’s the Outrage. Here’s Stossel’s TV-sized version of it.

PBS Link To Reeducation Camps

Michael Beller, principal counsel for PBS, The Public Broadcasting System, has been caught on film by Project Veritas pushing extreme radicalism and even Chinese-style “reeducation camps.”

Who knew when you gave money to PBS thinking you were helping encourage education, you were actually just feeding a bunch of radicals taking their marching orders from Chairman Mao? In other words, it wasn’t Sesame Street you were supporting, but the slinging of “molotov cocktails” at the White House.

Have a listen and you will see we aren’t exaggerating just how insane this TV official is. “Even if Biden wins, we go for all the Republican voters. Homeland Security will take their children away, We’ll put them into the reeducation camps,” Beller says. A few moments later, he’s talking about the spread of the coronavirus in red states, and expressing his joy that it might kill more conservative voters.

“What’s great is that COVID is spiking in all the red states right now. So that’s great. Because either those people won’t come out to vote for Trump, you know the red states, or a lot of them are sick and dying,” Beller says. “Americans are so f—ing dumb. You know, most people are dumb.”

Emma Colton from the Washington Examiner reported the news. She cited a Tweet suggesting PBS has fired Beller but that’s unconfirmed as of yet.

The Sky Is Falling For Dems

With Joe Biden spewing gaffe after gaffe in his basement campaign trail, Democrats are reaching for Code Red. The Democrat Party nominee had arguably the worst week of his campaign, teeing off on a black CBS News correspondent for having the gall to question his mental health, then disparaging the black community as monolithic and not being as diverse as Hispanics not once, but twice! And House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was no help, going off the deep end and accusing ultra-liberal PBS anchor Judy Woodruff of being a GOP advocate. The Dems are definitely in a panic and they couldn’t be losing their minds at a finer time. Here’s more from Liberal Hivemind.

The El Nino Phenomenon

Every so often, the waters of the eastern Pacific off the coast of South America get extraordinarily warm, producing trillions of joules of energy that wreak havoc with our weather. The phenomenon, of course, has come to be known as El Nino. Regions like the southwestern U.S., Mexico and South America are slammed with sometimes catastrophic rain, while other areas suffer through record drought. The phenomenon seemingly appears every two to seven years, but meteorologists still are handcuffed when it comes to accurately predicting its cycle. Host Joe Hanson takes a crack at explaining El Nino and why it remains so difficult to predict in this edition of “It’s Okay to be Smart” from PBS Digital Studios.
