Minneapolis: Progressive Utopia

Minneapolis is among the most progressive cities in the country. Some say it’s the poster child for progressivism in the U.S.

The all-Democrat City Council went above and beyond its duty to appease its ultra-liberal electorate, adopting almost every progressive policy–defunding the police, a $15 minimum wage, housing subsidies, mandatory paid leave, green targets, strong unions and the most expensive school system in the state. The result: It did nothing to reduce the racial income gap and the city’s black/white income disparity is nearly the biggest in the country.

But Minneapolis politicians are adamant, proclaiming they need more government. Says Republican Senate candidate Jason Lewis, “When you take away the incentive for work, savings and investment, you get less of it.” Here’s more with John Stossel.

The Biggest Lie Ever

What is the biggest lie the Democrats ever told? And how is it destroying America? Vincent James from The Red Elephants gives us the straight skinny.

Sargon of Akkad says the Democrats’ 2020 platform is insane. The Democrats, he says, seem to have hit on the perfect formula to actually destroy the United States from within. What’s he call insane: Tax hikes, the Green New Deal, increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour, increased health care costs, among many other proposals.

Bernie Faces Union Demands

House Democrats recently passed a $15 minimum wage bill nationally and conflicting reports say that we could lose up to 1.3 Million jobs or not lose any jobs at all.

One of the biggest proponents of a federal $15 minimum is Bernie Sanders who is now caught in a conundrum over his own staffs pay. Some staffers are reportedly quitting over not receiving a “living wage.” Many are saying that the long hours result in only getting $11-$13 an hour.

With the passing of the federal bill moderate and even far left Democrats agree on increasing the minimum, the question that arises is why isn’t Bernie putting his money where his mouth is?

Minimum wage increases are not even socialist or far left policy wise, it is a general left wing position to increase base pay to require employers to pay more. They argue without government mandate they won’t and perhaps there is no better example than Bernie Sanders who apparently doesn’t even pay his own staff $15

Republicans, on the other hand, disagree so I doubt we will see anything other than conservatives calling out the hypocrisy of the Sanders camp, though I think Bernie and his campaign will likely rectify the situation quickly.

The reality is that this story reveals how complicated it is to negotiate wages. Staff will always want more and Employers will always want to pay less. More from Tim Pool.

When Bernie Sanders is rated most favorably among Democratic candidates, then you know your party has gone down the tubes. These losers better prepare for another wailing party in 2020. They have a major crisis on their hands. More from Styxhexenhammer666.

Blaire White offered what we found to be a thoughtful and perceptive assessment of the fight, one she blames mostly on the spoiled brat drama queen antics of Carlos Maza, but she also doesn’t let Crowder off the hook completely, either. She implies he is exaggerating his anti-LGBT positions because he believes that’s what his audience wants. Blaire explains why she hasn’t been on the Louder with Crowder show for quite some time, but doesn’t regret the times she has appeared and debated with Crowder.

Here is a discussion of the case between Tucker Carlson on Fox and Glenn Greenwald., co-founding editor of The Intercept.  Greenwald, who is gay, says he finds Crowder “a contemptuous cretin” as a comedian, but he nevertheless defends Crowder’s rights to perform and derails YouTube for censoring him. We concur. It’s time to break up this mega-firm that tramples so freely on the rights of Americans. One reason Google treats the First Amendment so flagrantly. It’s essentially held harmless when defamation lawsuits arise from material carried by Google or its subsidiaries, like YouTube. It’s time to change that. Google wants to act like a publisher, then treat it like a publisher, meaning it can be sued for defamation, same as any newspaper or radio station.

Bernie’s Latest Boondoggle

Defying both economic reality and common sense, Sen. Bernie Sanders has announced a federal jobs proposal that would guarantee a job for every American with at least a $15-per-hour wage and full health benefits. Stefan Molyneux discusses the “turd sandwich” from Sanders. His staff, of course, hasn’t even said where the money would come from. Brainiacs, NOT!

Free Jobs! Free Everything!

The Vermont Socialist Bernie Sanders is up to his old tricks. Now, he’s pushing a platform offering free jobs for all Americans. Comedian Dennis Miller reacts to Sanders’ proposal, guaranteeing a job paying $15 an hour and health-care benefits to every American worker. More from Fox Business News.

The Minimum Wage Cruelty

The much-debated $15 minimum wage became the law of the land for millions of citizens in California and New York, but the real impact of the legislation could be devastating. George Mason University economist Don Boudreaux, like a majority of economists, is a staunch believer in the economic theory that if you raise the price of something, everything else being equal, you get less of it.

Thus implementing the $15 minimum wage will destroy jobs for the least skilled members in the workforce. “The vast majority of studies on the minimum wage, I’m estimating 70 percent, show a significant negative effect on minimum wages on the employment of unskilled workers, usually proxy by teen-agers,” Boudreaux says. But not only do you have job loss, Boudreaux reasons, the unskilled workforce, almost 4 percent of them under the age of 25, will lose the valuable opportunity to gain experience in the workplace.

Boudreaux joins host Nick Gillespie to further explain the conundrum in this edition of Reason.TV.
