MSNBC On The Chopping Block

Trish Regan predicted this would happen! News today that NBC Universal will be spun off as a separate company. MSNBC’s days really are numbered, along with CNBC and OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network. (And you wonder why Joe & Mika made the desperate visit to Mar-a-Lago over the weekend? The spin-off of their network was inevitable!)

Trish Regan has inside intel on what the deal means not only for these networks but the industry as a whole. Disney, she predicts, will be next with ABC News. It really is the end of an era!

Plus, Jaguar channels Bud Light in new ad campaign. Do they learn nothing from their predecessors? Target ought to serve as an example as well. It still hasn’t recovered from its debacle with the “tuckit” swimsuit. Shares are off some 30% in today’s trading as a result!

Here’s another look at the MSNBC debacle. Mark Dice says NBC no longer views “cross-pollination” with MSNBC as a positive attribute. Meanwhile, CNN’s analysts still have no clue why males turned away from the Democratic Party. Could it be a reflection of the Democrats running the most annoying — and stupid –feminist ever for President of the United States?

NBC Torture Chambers?

Television personality Bethenny Frankel is bringing the hammer down on NBC Universal for what she claims is cruel treatment of its reality show talent.

Riss Flex reports that Frankel has retained the services of Hollywood lawyers, who delivered a letter to NBC, charging it had allegedly exceeded the moral and legal limits permissible in a civilized society, opening itself up for legal action for intentionally inflicting emotional distress, distribution of revenge porn and false imprisonment. Here’s the rest of the story with Flex.

Child Sex Scandal Hits SNL

A lawsuit has been filed alleging that Saturday Night Live comedian Horatio Sanz groomed and sexually molested a 16-year-old girl at an SNL after-hours party. Jimmy Fallon also got into the act, drinking with the 16-year-old victim while also emailing and chatting up another minor — aged 15. They have been named in a new lawsuit that also seeks damages from Saturday Night Live Studios and NBC Universal. More from The Quartering.

Want the full details of the case? Here, Jamie Dlux draws from the filings for the case to give us clear evidence of what happened. It wasn’t merely a sexually inappropriate Horatio Sanz who crossed the line, but also the executives of Saturday Night Live, including its creator Lorne Michaels and longtime producer Michael Shoemaker.

This incident brings to mind the old Family Guy episode called Don’t Make Me Over, in which Meg gets a new makeover and transforms into a sexy pop singer. She makes a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live and is deflowered by Jimmy Fallon. Peter Griffin beats Fallon to a pulp for taking advantage of the child.

Two Down, Six To Go

Covington, Kentucky, high school student Nick Sandmann has won his defamation lawsuit against the Washington Post. This is the second lawsuit he has won, the other coming against CNN. There remain six other lawsuits left to settle, including ones against the New York Times, NBC Universal, CBS News, ABC News, Gannett and Rolling Stone.

Sandmann originally was seeking $250 million from the Washington Post. It’s unclear how much he received in his settlement agreement. Sandmann and other Covington kids were falsely accused by mainstream media outlets of mocking a Native American man, Nathan Phillips, who was later exposed as a fraud. More from Mr. Obvious.
