Pay Attention To The Pumps

If a bad guy sneezed. especially along the Strait of Hormuz, that could send the price at the pumps escalating. Now, Iran is threatening war against the United States. Pay attention to the pumps. Forgotten Fads of the ’70s

The 1970s were a wild and fun time, and occasionally bizarre. And they had a multitude of fads that caught the imagination of the public, then disappeared just as quickly as they began. Take streaking, the act of running stark naked through the streets or across packed sporting events just for the heck of it. Streakers eventually graduated to national events, such as the World Series and the Montreal Olympic Games. Another popular fad was the CB radio, the precursor to cell phones, where motorists would communicate with each other about things such as speed traps and gasoline prices across the nation. Why Are Gas Prices Soaring?

How many times have we heard that rising gas prices are the fault of villainous oil companies taking advantage of helpless consumers? Prof. Art Carden explains that this popular story is false.

Gas prices go up and down based on the laws of supply and demand. Political problems, such as wars and barriers to the development of new sources and new energy sources, also contribute to rising prices. Prices would also be lower if demand were not artificially increased. H/T Learn Liberty

Lift EPA’s Ban on Jack Benny

Remember the good, old days when gasoline costs less than a buck and you’d still get full-service, red-carpet treatment from your Texaco man?

Well, now the national average gasoline price is $3.87 — more than double what it was when President Obama took office in 2009. And to add insult to injury, his bureaucratic goons in the Environmental Protection Agency have issued a new mandate requiring consumers to buy at least four gallons when purchasing from stations with hoses containing 10 percent and 15 percent ethanol-blended fuel.

WTF? What purpose does that mandate serve? What if you only need a gallon or two for your lawnmower or scooter? What if you’ve broken down on the highway and are down to your last $10, enough money to buy enough gas to get you started but less than the EPA mandate? And what if you’re Jack Benny, exercising your constitutional right to frugality, by only purchasing one gallon at a time?
