Obamas Go to Hollywood

Former U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle reportedly sealed a deal with the streaming service Netflix last year. Now ESPN, MTV and FX veterans are expected to join Obama’s new production team. RT America’s Manila Chan chats with investigative journalist Ben Swann.

Giza Pyramid’s Striking Powers

Archeologists in Egypt found that due to its shape the Great Pyramid of Giza can focus electromagnetic energy, such as radio waves, into its internal chambers and below its base. A Shark Bites Down

A camera has captured the moment a great white shark swims up to the lens and tries to take a bite. Scientist Dr Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries was on a research trip when the 3.6-meter (11ft 9in) shark tried to take a chunk out of his research equipment. Video of Mega-Bomb Drop

U.S. Forces in Afghanistan have released aerial footage of the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) strike on an Islamic State cave and tunnel systems in the Achin district. The bombing took place Thursday. It appears as if the network of caves collapsed and the earth flattened as a pillar of smoke rose up in the sky. The US miitary claimed to have killed at least 36 ISIS fighters. More from RT America.

Russian Volcano Erupts

A volcanic eruption in Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula has produced stunning images of lava flows oozing through a snowy wilderness. The Plosky Tolbachik volcano started erupting in November after being dormant for more than 30 years. It’s unclear how long the eruption will last. The volcano last erupted was in 1976. Dotcom: Hounded by Hollywood

Dotcom also warns that the future of Internet freedoms are at stake as the US government and others around the world try to clamp down on the medium or use it as a tool for surveillance. Wolfpacks Threaten Yakutia

Authorities in Yakutia have declared a state of emergency, citing growing dangers to the public and to livestock due to roving packs of wolves. The  Soviet republic plans to cull the size of the wolf population and has issued orders to hunt down 3,000 of them over the next three months. Nearly the size of India, Yakutia is a sparsely populated republic that serves as a primary anchor of Siberia. Fewer than one million Yakuts and Russians live in an area totaling close to 1.2 million square miles. More from RT America.

Weasel Words Shape Politics

Not only politicians, but also the media, often use euphemisms to soften the truth and camouflage hard realities. Civilians killed in wars are called “collateral damage.” No one’s rich or poor, anymore. Soldiers don’t suffer shellshock, but post-traumatic stress disorder.
