Absolute Clown

Race grifter Jemele Hill, an ESPN commentator, sums up the re-election of Donald Trump: Saying all of us who voted for him are a bunch of misogynists and racists, too.

Couldn’t have anything to do with the Democrats running a drunken dullard as President? Here’s more from Memology 101.

Pete Rose Dead At 83

Embattled Major League Baseball legend and all-time hits king Pete Rose, 83, died Monday at his Las Vegas home. The Clark County medical examiner confirmed Rose’s death to ABC News.

Rose spent the majority of his iconic career with the Cincinnati Reds  where he won World Series titles in 1975 and 1976, and won a third championship with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1980. He ended career as a member of the Montreal Expos. Rose also was a 17-time National League All-Star and won the league’s Most Valuable Player Award in 1973.

Nicknamed “Charlie Hustle” for his firebrand style on the field, Rose went on to manage the Reds later in his career, but was banned from Major League Baseball in 1989 after an investigation revealed he had bet on baseball, all but ending his bid to enter the MLB Hall of Fame. Former Montreal Expos executive vice-president David Sampson reacts to Rose’s untimely death on CBS Sports HQ.

Veteran ESPN baseball analyst Tim Kurkjian recounts the life and complicated legacy of Rose and his major contribution to Major League Baseball.

NBA Legend Bill Walton Dies

Two-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer, and sports broadcaster extraordinaire Bill Walton died on Memorial Day following complications from cancer.

Among the most iconic sports personalities of his era, Walton was voted to the 50th and 75th NBA’s anniversary teams, won the league’s MVP Award and the championship with the Portland Trail Blazers in 1977 and again with the Boston Celtics in 1986, all despite an injury-plagued career. He also played with the San Diego Clippers.

The 6-11 redhead was just as prolific throughout his college career at UCLA, where he won three consecutive Player of the Year Awards and two national titles under the tutelage of legendary coach John Wooden. He was selected No. 1 in the NBA Draft in 1974 by Portland.

Walton was equally as dynamic in the broadcast booth, with stints at CBS, NBC and ABC/ESPN (also PAC 12 Sports Network, owned by ESPN), often overshadowing the play-by-play announcers with his antics. Here’s more from ESPN, with reaction on Walton’s death from NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and some of his sports and media colleagues.

How Sports Went Woke

Sports journalist Sage Steele recounts her journey from ESPN to independent broadcasting, describing how she rose through the ranks and the riveting transformation of the network and sports in general to a “woke” culture.

Appearing on The Rubin Report, with Dave Rubin, Steele, who proudly admits that her conservative upbringing and personal experiences shaped her political evolution, says ESPN’s conversion to wokeness and its shift toward political activism came at rapid pace following the election of Donald J. Trump.

Steele says she was punished and canceled for speaking out against vaccine mandates and shares her observations about the hypocrisy within social-justice movements, the network’s profit motive behind racial division and divisive narratives, and the impact of transgender athletes in women’s sports, revealing fears and challenges faced in addressing the issue, plus more.

Obama And Transgenderism

In the name of diversity, ESPN fired Sage Steele. Pretty funny, except it’s not. Here’s what happened, as she relates her life story with Tucker Carlson.

(EDITOR’S NOTE: This is a 22-minute version of the full interview. To see it all, you’ll need to visit Tucker’s channel  — the Tucker Carlson Network.)

Ohtani: A Victim, Or In Trouble?

The adventures of Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani might be temporary derailed, following reports of a brewing gambling scandal.

Iconic sportscaster Dan Patrick reports that the Dodgers have fired Ohtani’s interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, for alleged gambling debts with a Southern California bookmaking operation. But is that what actually happened?

Patrick says the original report was that Mizuhara accumulated $4.5 million in debts with the bookmaker and Ohtani agreed to pay it off.  Later reports, including an article in the Los Angeles Times, said Ohtani’s attorneys are accusing Mizahara of “massive theft.”

Sadly, the mainstream media, including sports giant ESPN, have backed off the story. Patrick posits there still are many questions to be answered, including the unthinkable assumption that Ohtani is in fact gambling on baseball! Here’s more analysis with Patrick.

Blood Bath To Rock Disney

Walt Disney Corporation hasn’t gotten as much bad press as Anheuser-Busch, but the company has pushed aside a huge block of its customers, and in the process, lost more than $100 billion in its market value. This week, the pain will become more evident as Disney begins to compensate, launching a series of massive layoffs affecting every division of the company — from the theme parks to the movie-making studios to broadcasting operations like ESPN.

As many as 4,000 employees are expected to receive pink slips this week. That number could reach 7,000 layoffs by the end of the summer, as the belt-tightening continues.

It’s unfortunate that so much of the damage was self-inflicted as Disney openly embraced woke leftist policies, often antagonizing its base of customers. We don’t see many signs of the mendacious Disney management changing its high-handed and arrogant ways, so look for additional shakeups down the road. Here’s more Ryan Kinel at the RK Outpost.
