AI will lead to job losses, and women in rural communities are likely to be the hardest segment hit. A new federal study by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) found artificial intelligence will disproportionately hit women, especially those working in rural jobs in the American Midwest and Mountain West.
Jobs that are especially vulnerable: secretaries, customer service representatives, office clerks and cashiers. Software developers won’t be hit as hard, and other jobs likely to remain intact: taxi drivers and dentist assistants.
