Oprah hired a room, filled it with feminists, and hosted an hour-and-a-half seminar on how Lindsay Clancy — who admitted to strangling her three children — is actually the victim. SugarTits and I sat through it so you don’t have to.
The framing throughout is that killing your kids is something that “happened to Lindsay,” a road bump on her bucket-list journey, and the real lesson is protecting women’s mental health. We get the childhood friend deflecting with “mental health can affect anyone,” the reproductive psychiatrist explaining postpartum psychosis is a genuine medical emergency (fine — so section her, then), and a room full of feminists shooting daggers at the one brave daughter who stood up and said, actually, she methodically strangled three children one by one and that’s murder.
Then it escalates: Oprah suggesting that if this were a man there’d be research and laws overnight, and a speaker closing on the need for the same energy and “pink shirts” for women “who don’t have Lindsay’s melanin and privilege” — i.e. please start a movement when women of color do it too. And the grand finale, a TikTok mystic declaring Lindsay a “goddess incarnate” whose “soul came here for a massive mission” and who is “divine feminine rising.”
