Starbase: A New Texan Town!
A new city has incorporated in Texas — Starbase! Located in Cameron County, to the north of the county seat of Brownsville, Starbase currently boasts a small population of less than 500, including some 300 adults and 120 children.
The town serves as the hub for Elon Musk’s SpaceX spaceport — his rocket launch site. Musk first proposed creating the new city in 2021, saying, “Form thence to Mars, and hence the Stars.” Incorporating as a city will give officials more power to close roads or deem certain areas off-limits during rocket launches. While Elon is leaving, returning to his private businesses, the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will remain intact, likely through the duration of the Trump administration. DOGE just identified a pool of about 60 illegal aliens who voted in the 2024 presidential election. Those cases have been referred to the U.S. Department of Justice for prosecution.
