Polls Now Shifting Toward GOP
All summer long, polls suggested that Republicans badly trailed their Democratic rivals and could face a bloodbath in this coming November’s general election. Not so fast!
The latest polls reflect a steady and, in some cases quite large shift, toward the GOP in the aftermath of President Donald Trump’s midterm convention in Dallas, Texas. Some 100 million Americans watched the convention, many using social media platforms that bypass the fake news and its decisively Democratic propaganda.
Where have the polling shifts been the most remarkable? That includes a handful of swing states that Democrats are counting on if they’re going to have any hopes of retaking the Senate. States in play: Minnesota, New Hampshire, Michigan and Maine. Three of those have been held by Democrats, while Maine is under the control of Susan Collins with the GOP.
This gives new momentum to the Senate campaigns of Michele Tafoya (Minn.), Mike Rogers (Mich.), John Sununu (New Hampshire) and Collins. Will Republicans take all four of those states? Doubtful.
But with them threatening to do so, Democrats now must redirect campaign money to those states, rather than simply trying to grab Republican seats in Ohio, Texas and Alaska. So odds have improved that the GOP will hold the Senate, and might even add two to three new seats. Updates on the House will take longer to become clear. Here’s more from Steve Turley.
