The Kremlin released rare footage of a high-level meeting between Vladimir Putin and Trump envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, followed by their first trip to Kyiv this term and a comparatively restrained response from Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signaling revived U.S. diplomacy on Ukraine.
The script argues Putin views the American team as a more trusted broker than European leaders and notes a recent sequence of engagements, including CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s public Moscow visit and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s G20 outreach to Russia’s finance minister.
With Kirill Dmitriev present, Moscow described detailed discussions of major U.S.-Russia economic projects, alongside claims that Bessent is choking off offshore and banking channels funding Ukraine via Europe, the United Kingdom and Canada.
It then pivots to Argentina’s renewed Malvinas/Falklands push as Trump publicly and reportedly reconsiders automatic U.S. support for British sovereignty, recalling internal U.S. divisions during the 1982 war. Here’s more from Susan Kokinda with Promethean Updates.
The Hormuz Letter, citing two senior Iranian sources, reports that Russian officials briefed Tehran following CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s visit and that the CIA director delivered a message asking Moscow to pressure Iran into reopening the Strait of Hormuz. According to that report, Russian banks, traders and shipping companies connected to Iran could face additional U.S. sanctions if Moscow refused to cooperate.
Neither Washington nor Moscow has confirmed that account. If the reporting is accurate, however, it creates an extraordinary geopolitical irony. Washington has spent years sanctioning and attempting to isolate Russia over Ukraine. Now, the United States may be asking Moscow for help dealing with Iran. Here’s more from Ben Swann.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe might not have met in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin but Putin received a briefing immediately from the Russian KGB agents who had met with Ratcliffe. What this suggests: Ratcliffe carried a secretive message to Putin that was delivered on site and in person to avoid any risks of exposure.
What was that message? And why has President Donald Trump not said a word about Ratcliffe’s trip to Moscow?

A bounty of press reports, plus considerable surface evidence, suggests that CIA Director John Ratcliffe just made a surprise visit to Moscow, flying on board a military plane from Latvia. This is the first visit by a CIA director to Russia in more than five years.
Who did he meet and what were they discussing? Russia has confirmed the visit, reporting Ratcliffe did not meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but did have discussions with his Russian counterparts within the KGB.
Did the Iranian War prompt this visit, the Ukraine War or both of them? Were sanctions threatened or was some kind of peace proposal offered? We don’t have a clue, although the Wall Street Journal maintained that some sort of warning was issued, possibly involving NATO. Bloomberg also engaged in speculation, concluding that we will soon be seeing an uptick in Russian attacks on Ukraine. Here’s veteran investigative reporter Ben Swann to unpack the mystery.
