Lincoln Didn’t Free The Slaves

Abraham Lincoln is generally regarded as the greatest President in our nation’s history, though Ryan Dawson posits that the truth about his term in office and his Civil War agenda says otherwise.

Dawson, a historian from William & Mary University, says what we’ve come to accept as the history of the Lincoln Presidency and the true nature of the Civil War has a fairy tale version in it. He says Lincoln was not The Great Emancipator. “Thomas Jefferson freed more slaves than Lincoln. Lincoln didn’t free any slaves, other than around Washington, D.C., but he paid masters $300 per head and he offered the Blacks $100 if they’d leave the United States,” Dawson says.

Dawson adds that the Emancipation Proclamation did not free any slaves. It was the 13th Amendment, which was passed after Lincoln’s death, that ended slavery and involuntary servitude.
