Heads Of State

Notice how all of the most dangerous nursing homes — the ones with the highest coronavirus death rates — all could be found in states run by Democrats. Were these Democratic governors simply counting more coronavirus deaths so they could receive higher federal reimbursements, or did the Democrats engage in riskier behavior, placing known coronavirus patients within the nursing homes, thus spreading the disease to more members of the elderly? Some of the governors with pronounced mortality rates: Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., Gretchen Whitmer, D-Mich., Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., Tom Wolf, D-Penn., and Phil Murphy, D-N.J. Jamie Dlux explores this sad tale.

Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, says the five Democratic governors need to explain why they failed to follow the federal guidelines and sent coronavirus patients into nursing homes.Because of their negligence, “New York has suffered 6,318 deaths in nursing homes. New Jersey, 6,327,” says Scalise. “Compare that to Florida — a retirement state — 1,454. On a per capita basis, nursing homes deaths in New York are 500 percent higher than Florida and New Jersey is 1,120 percent higher than Florida.”

At best, one can describe these Democrats as dunces. But just as easily, you can call them murderers. So Cuomo can talk tough, but he’s a sleazebag of the highest order. Same goes for the cackling Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan. Go stick your head under a lake, witch!

Musk: This Is A Practice Run

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is not one to mix words when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic. In an interview with host Joe Rogan, Musk bluntly states, “I kind of saw this whole thing play out in China before it played out in the U.S. It’s kind of like watching the same movie again but in English. Objectively, the mortality rate is much lower. At least a factor of 10, maybe 50 from what we originally thought.” But Musk says that despite the panic and chaos gripping the country, he sees a silver lining. “This is kind of like a practice run for something in the future that might have a really high mortality rate,” he says. “And we kind of got to go through this without it being something that kills vast numbers of young, healthy people.” Tune in as Musk also opines on the stimulus  packages, the economy’s perceived horn of plenty and how he would handle the crisis.

The mortality rate across the United States is below that of previous years. That’s right. Even with the increases owing to coronavirus, we are seeing a lowered death rate this spring. Seems to reflect much less influenza, plus a decrease in accidental deaths with everyone cooped up in their homes. Virus Cases Top One Million

The number of coronavirus cases around the world has now surpassed the 1,000,000 mark. There is some good news, though. The rate of infections being reported is starting to level off. So we could finally be turning a corner and seeing this supervirus subside. But one big caveat remains. South Korean scientists are now speculating about whether we might see a viral reactivation. When this happens, someone can recover from the disease, only to have it flare up again at a later date. Obviously, it bears watching, but we won’t know if it’s an issue until later. Back in February, we saw some early reports that some coronavirus patients in China may have become infected again after their initial recovery. The data was scarce and we haven’t had much to go on since then…until now.

More recent studies now indicate that a certain percentage (possibly a third?) of “recovered” patients have so few antibodies to covid-19 that they’re able to get re-infected at a later date. If indeed the case globally, this would dampen hopes by substantially retarding progress to herd immunity. And increasing the public health risk, especially since the severity of the infection seems notably worse the second time around.

Don’t despair yet, as there are material open questions regarding this new data that require further study. But it does reinforce the nefarious complexity of this honey badger of a virus. In the meanwhile, keep up your self-protection efforts — social distance, good hygiene, PPE, and get that garden going! More from Chris Martenson.

DeBlasio’s Coronavirus Crisis

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio is facing a coronavirus crisis. It is he — not Trump — who is to blame for the worst coronavirus outbreak in New York City. De Blasio was not encouraging residents to be careful but rather telling them this was a minor nuisance. Like a blind fool, he encouraged them to attend public parades and social events, spreading the contagion. Now, the body bags are starting to pile up in New York.
